HOWTO: Back up and restore eWallet data on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad via email

Last Updated:

eWallet features Cloud and local Wi-Fi synchronization for Apple iOS devices, but it isn’t the only way to transfer data back and forth. If you cannot get the synchronization working for some reason, or if you just want to backup your data, you can use eWallet’s email backup and restore option.

Backup

  1. Tap the More (3 dots / ellipsis) icon
  2. Choose “Email Backup” or “Share/Backup Wallet
  3. Enter your own email address and press Send

This will send your wallet as an email attachment to whatever email address you specify. (Verify that you have received that email with your wallet attached.) The file is the same wallet file as stored on your device, so it’s always encrypted.

Restore

To restore your data from an email backup, view the email message in the Mail app on your iOS device, then tap on the file attachment. If you’re asked to pick an application, choose eWallet. The file will be copied into eWallet on your device. It won’t overwrite existing files; if the filename already exists, eWallet will copy the file with a number at the end of its name so you don’t accidentally erase your data.
