If you are having trouble syncing eWallet between your desktop and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, try following the steps to get your data syncing.

NOTE: If you are running eWallet in a virtual machine, including Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion on a Macintosh, see this important note.

You need to try to set up synchronization first, which requires a wi-fi connection between your PC and iPhone/iPod. Follow these instructions.

  1. Make sure you run sync on the device: If you want to synchronize, you need to start sync on the iOS device FIRST, and THEN on the desktop. Often users start sync on their desktop but not on their iPhone. You can find detailed step-by-step instructions for doing this under Help->eWallet Tutorials on the desktop or in the Help file that installs with the desktop software. You can also view the eWallet Tutorials in your browser.
  2. Make sure you have the correct eWallet versions on the desktop and device: You need the current versions of eWallet to sync. View current version information
  3. Create a partnership with the phone: Before you can start syncing you have to create a partnership in eWallet between your phone and the desktop version. You only have to do this the first time; after that you just sync. There are a number of reasons for doing it this way, security in particular. If you have trouble setting up the partnership, follow these steps.
  4. Reinstall Bonjour: We've found that some users need to reinstall Bonjour. You can get Bonjour here. It may ask you if you want to do a repair installation. If so, say yes.
  5. Delete and re-create the partnership: Stop any wallets from syncing with the iPhone using Setup under Synchronize on the desktop. Then, still in setup, remove the phone from the list of sync locations. Now recreate the partnership with the phone.
  6. Close eWallet on both sides and try again: A simple solution, though for many users this does resolve their issues.
  7. Reboot your wireless router or access point.
  8. Add Exceptions for "eWallet" and "BonJour (mDNSResponder)" in your firewall or network security software on your PC, to allow them to pass through.
  9. If you have a VPN connection, make sure it is not active.
  10. If you have the Cisco Systems VPN client, make sure its "stateful firewall" option is turned off.
  11. Reset your network settings on the iPhone, iPad or iPod. This will erase your stored wireless network settings, so make sure you know the passwords for any wireless network you connect to. To reset the settings, go to the Settings app on the device, then go to General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. After the reset, turn your device off and then on again.
